Will haute hikers be a thing of the past? Will men boot up with sneaker boots? Can fur hold onto its place as a go-to embellishment for another fall season? The Reveal, FFANY’s new trend area, will answer these questions and more when it debuts at the New York Shoe Expo Nov. 30-Dec. 2.
FFANY has tapped Jenn Rogien, costume designer for HBO’s “Girls” and Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black,” to create a multi-faceted activation and self-guided presentation of seven of the most important footwear trends for Fall ’17.
Key trends include: innovations in footwear technology, mixed materials, unique soles, texture, artistic embellishments and fantastical designs from the runway. Meanwhile, the “best of” spotlights ways brands are updating classic fall silhouettes in fresh, new colorways.
Trends will be presented in a gallery-like space both digitally and physically using samples and images submitted by FFANY members. The installation will be available for attendees to view on the second floor of the NY Hilton Midtown.
Through The Reveal, FFANY aims to enhance the show’s sense of discovery. “FFANY is thrilled to present ‘The Reveal’ at December’s New York Shoe Expo,” said Ron Fromm, FFANY president and CEO. “FFANY is an innovative and forward-thinking organization, and ‘The Reveal’ will undoubtedly help us fulfill our mission to continue to propel the footwear industry forward.”
The installation will be unveiled on the opening day of the New York Shoe Expo on Nov. 30 with a VIP and press reception hosted by Rogien.
