Fringe basically sells itself by shaking, shimming and swaying into the hands and onto the feet of customers, which is why it remains a go-to embellishment for women’s footwear.

Brands at GDS (Feb. 10-12) went on a fringe binge for Fall ’16, swathing sneakers, booties and tall boots in strings. The trend plays into the Western look with gusto. Highlights include cowboy boots wrapped in fringe, lace and beadwork and tall boots with cascading cognac suede fringe.

Exaggerated tassels take on fringe-like qualities on dress booties. Our favorites are accented with a band of crystals for evening.
