Soles4Souls Kicks Off 10th Annual Barefoot Week

Nonprofit organization Soles4Souls is celebrating 10 years of its annual Barefoot Week campaign, raising awareness about the millions of people worldwide who don’t have proper footwear.

Starting Oct. 9, Soles4Souls will begin reaching out to participating churches and their parishes to donate the shoes they wear on Sundays, leaving the service barefoot as a gesture of good will. From Oct. 10-13, Shoes4Souls will work with shelters in Los Angeles, Nashville, Boston and New York to provide free shoes to men and women in need.

For the last event in Barefoot Week, the organization will host ‘Barefoot4Them’, a day when Soles4Souls calls for everyone to spend their day barefoot to raise awareness for the millions of people around the world without proper footwear.

“Barefoot Week is the perfect way to celebrate our mission and our ten-year anniversary,” said Soles4Souls CEO Buddy Teaster. “Since 2006, we have partnered with volunteers to collect used shoes to benefit entrepreneurs in developing nations, partnered with retailers to provide new shoes to those in need here and around the world, and worked with volunteers to help raise awareness. All is being reflected in this annual Barefoot Week event.”
