Urban festivals like Panorama, the New York City music fest produced by the same folks who helped make Coachella its own fashion season, call for their own breed of fringe footwear. Manhattan-based designer Rebecca Minkoff is lending her big city style to Minnetonka’s traditional fringe boots and mocs for an edgy capsule collection.
The five-piece Rebecca Minkoff x Minnetonka collection features a touch of rock n’ roll with metallic studs, rivets and dramatic lacing treatments.
“Minnetonka has been a favorite brand of mine for a while—their moccasins are a staple of American style and synonymous with concert-going globetrotters,” Minkoff said in a statement. “I’m excited to partner with Minnetonka to offer our shared customer—the millennial, music festival attending woman—the ultimate shoe for festival season.”
The mostly suede collection includes a bootie with back lacing, a knee-high lace-up boot, a tall boot and a lace-up short boot. All styles are accented with cascading or multiple tiers of Minnetonka’s signature fringe. For a dash of color, a classic kiltie moc trimmed with silver grommets is available in black, tan, hot pink, red, navy and stone suede and white leather.
“The end result is a classic Minnetonka moccasin mixed with a modernized Rebecca Minkoff twist,” Minnetonka CEO David Miller said about the collaboration.
Shoes will be available starting in June in Rebecca Minkoff stores, rebeccaminkoff.com, Minnetonkamoccasin.com, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. The collection retails for $98-$245.
