Spanish footwear brand Pikolinos announced the winners of the brand’s first design competition with New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) on Tuesday.
After a Spring ’17 collection paying tribute to the brand’s Spanish roots, the brand sought to add a new, yet cohesive, perspective for their Spring ’18 collection, and enlisted the fashionable fresh minds of FIT.
The brand awarded senior accessories design student, Den Ly, the honor of featuring one of his designs in the Pikolinos Spring ’18 collection, a two-week internship at the brand’s headquarters in Alicante, Spain, and a $1,000 cash prize.
“Den’s design displayed a modern take, and yet kept the brand’s artistic vision making it a perfect addition to our SS18 collection. We’re extremely honored by each student’s dedication to the design process and we hope that this competition taught the students an invaluable lesson about the industry,” Juanma Perán, Pikolinos group president said.
Contestants presented their final designs to a panel of judges, including a fashion editor, a blogger from Pretty Connected, a fashion brand/marketing expert from the Doneger Group, Pikolinos President Juanma Perán and Pikolinos Founder Juan Perán.
