Fresh off a summer collaboration with Rebecca Minkoff, Minnetonka has partnered with Japanese artist Môko Kobayashi for an ongoing collaboration centered around animal-inspired beadwork.
Known for her accessories line, Maison des Perles, Kobayashi has created a following with her work by practicing the hyper-detailed French tradition of “crochet de luneville.”
Kobayashi adds a taste of haute couture embroidery to the Minnetonka collection, which includes beaded designs of wolves, reindeers and feathers on the brand’s classic suede slippers and boots.
“A while back, I saw a picture of some moccasins with elaborate beadwork and I immediately loved the look and playfulness of the moccasins and wanted to create my own design,” said Kobayashi in a statement. “Minnetonka and I both have a deep appreciation for handcraftsmanship, so I knew we would be a great fit and would come up with something special,” she added.
The Minnetonka x Môko Kobayashi collection will be available for a limited time starting this fall. Additional holiday styles will roll out in October. Retail prices begin at $50.
