Velvet heels and lush suede boots are among the surprising showpieces in Bernardo’s first full collection for fall.

The heritage brand is following up its successful first run of the Peony and Lacey rain boots with more stylish waterproof styles, including an over-the-knee boot with stretch, glittery ankle boots and a series of wedge Chelsea boots with a detachable tall shaft. The convertible style is a standout in white and sporty uppers like silver foil and tech-y mesh. Rain boots retail for $155-$195.

A double-layer suede boot with a stacked heel sits at the top end of the fall collection’s price range at $475. The midi boot is essentially a boot within a boot with an outside layer that can be zipped up or folded down. Fringe ankle boots in on-trend olive green, slim combat boots with a vintage feel and leather lace up boots that can be wrapped around the ankle—a nod to Bernardo’s sandal roots—round out the boot selection.

Bernardo taps into a mod vibe with suede pumps and velvet sandals with block heels. The velvet styles in blush and blue are especially popular for bridal.

Lightweight tassel loafers and perforated oxfords with lug soles offer a man-tailored look. Other casual work styles include smoking slippers with snake print calf hair and loafers with a brand new distressed metallic leather treatment. The treatment is also carried into a fall range of Bernardo’s popular Matrix and Monica sandals.
