From shoes to soup—former Steve Madden CEO and chairman Jamieson Karson has joined Soupman Inc. as chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors.
Karson ran Steven Madden from 2001 to 2004. He replaced Steve Madden, who resigned from his positions as chief executive officer and chairman of the board Steven Madden Ltd when he pleaded guilty to stock fraud and other charges. During Karson’s tenure at Steve Madden, the company’s revenues, profits and market cap grew significantly despite a number of legal challenges. He is credited with stabilizing the company and expanding its business globally and into wholesale markets. After Steve Madden, Karson was a partner at Lightship Partners, a retail consulting firm.
In his new role, Karson will work to drive revenues and profits and to build upon the Soupman brand. In a statement, he said, “Soupman has such an interesting history. As Seinfeld recognized, Soupman makes the best soup in the world and I am thrilled to work with the team to exponentially and profitably grow our business and our brand.”
