What do you get when one of the leading scorers in the NBA and in men’s fashion combines his talents with a trailblazing shoe designer? An innovative sneaker collection that is sure to get applause both on and off the courts.
For his new footwear line called Way of Wade, Miami Heat three-time champion Dwyane Wade has partnered with shoe designer Alejandro Ingelmo to create a metallic hi-top inspired by their love for sci-fi films. The sneaker, called the Third Element, will be available in three colorsways: iridescent black/gold, black/silver, and purple/black.
Wade, in recent years, has made strides to being one of the league’s most fashionable men with his unique personal style and growing involvement in the fashion world. In 2012, Wade left the Jordan Brand in order to partner with the Chinese sporting good company Li Ning, the first NBA athlete to affiliate with the business. In October of that same year, Ingelmo, was named the creative consultant for the partnership.
The limited-edition sneakers, which retail for $325, will be sold exclusively at The Webster Miami starting Dec. 3. The Webster will fete the collection with a bash at the Ritz-Carlton Residence just in time for the annual gathering of fashion’s leading ladies and gents, also known as Miami Art Basel.
