Adidas and yoga lifestyle company Wanderlust broke the official Guinness Book of World Records for the title of most people doing yoga in pairs at a recent event in Brooklyn.
More than 2,500 people—or 1,250 pairs of yogis—participated in the 10-minute record breaking, mindfulness event in Prospect Park. Yoga instructors Elena Brower and Lauren Imparato lead the yoga class.
The event also features a triathlon of sorts: a 5k run, an outdoor yoga flow class and a guided meditation.
“The partnership with Wanderlust allows us to create new and exciting opportunities. Breaking a Guinness World Records title was a unique way for us to bring people together and celebrate the largest Wanderlust event in the world,” said Alison Stewart, senior director for Adidas women’s.
The event was a part of the Adidas x Wanderlust co-branded apparel collection, available on Adidas’ website, spanning bras, tank tops, tights and more.
“Wanderlust’s mission is to help people to find their true north, and part of that is making yoga, meditation and mindfulness practice something that’s accessible, attainable, community-focused and fun,” said Sean Hoess, co-CEO of Wanderlust. “The idea of getting grounded while also setting a world record with a friend was immediately appealing, and we’re thrilled to be working with Adidas and Guinness to make it happen.”
