Clean, crisp, cool casual sneakers are at the core of the Fall ’16 ED by Ellen DeGeneres collection.
The brand, a division of the Camuto Group, got a high end start last fall when it debuted at the ED by Ellen x Bergdorf Goodman Pop Up Shop at the Fifth Avenue luxury emporium. It has since been sold exclusively at Nordstrom with most styles under $100. For Fall ’16, the line will continue its expansion by opening up distribution to new wholesale partners.
A few favorites return for fall, including minimal sneakers in white leather and gray wool—a signature color and fabrication found throughout the line—and hi-tops in black leather and rich navy suede popped with fresh white outsoles and laces. More colored suede, including maroon, rust, blue, olive and golden yellow, add a ’70s feel to a new line of retro, monochromatic running-style sneakers. Sneakers with oversized Velcro closures add a modern element to the collection.
Sneaker boots are new for fall. Two lace-less options with outdoor-inspired details, like exposed shearling and a double padded collar, are key styles. The brand plays with a Wallabee-type silhouette with a range of lace-up ankle boots accented with shearling cuffs and sneaker bottoms.
Though DeGeneres herself is not known to wear heels, the talk show host-turned-designer has incorporated some height to the fall collection, including suede and leather ankle booties with a dramatic stacked heel. The heels are offered in rich shades of cognac leather, sandy suede and more of that navy suede found in the sneaker line. Hidden wedges are tucked into a line of suede Chelsea boots with a sporty outsole. Riding boots make their debut as well, with a navy blue leather and suede option being a unique and memorable style.
Other key casual styles by ED by Ellen DeGeneres include expressive ballet flats and the return of simple crisscross leather sandals with contrasting red stitching.
